No update, due to imminent traveling. Things are hectic.
Expect a full update on Wednesday, however, and I may double back and write two posts, if time allows (if it does, I'll put them out Wednesday and Thursday).
In the meantime, I recommend taking a break from Batman with:
Comics: Alan Moore's From Hell is a masterpiece. If you're looking for something shorter, I recommend the collection of short, thematically connected stories called Demo, by Brian Wood.
Novels: Peter Straub's Julia is absolutely perfect in every word, a wonderful horror novel which starts with dread and steadily rises into a shriek of terror. And if you haven't read it yet, as a reader of this blog, you owe it to yourself to seek out Austin Grossman's wonderful first novel, Soon I Will Be Invincible, which is even better than the title suggests.
Television: On the lighter side, Black Books is a terribly funny British sitcom; on the more serious end, you can't go wrong with The Wire, one of if not the finest show ever made, and certainly the best not-just-about-cops show ever.
Film: Nothing good out at the moment, but there's a world of cinema at your fingertips through Netflix and such. Two noir recs today: Christopher Nolan's first film, a chronologically-scrambled bleak neo-noir named Following, and the bizarre classic of love-after-death, Laura.
There, that oughta keep you busy for a few days.
